Ah.... one can never tire of that peaceful, calming view of Chicago Bay on Lake Superior. It's the view we enjoy from the front of our gift shop.
We've been coming to the Hovland area now for over 20 years and have enjoyed watching the lake throughout this time. Now we get to enjoy it from a new perspective - that of our newly opened gift shop. Our shop is just a hop, skip, and stones throw away from Lake Superior, across scenic Highway 61 from the lake. We often catch ourselves glancing out the windows to get a peek at the lake. It's a grounding feeling, and recharges us throughout the day. But our new view of Lake Superior isn't the only new view we have... we also have a new perspective on achieving dreams.
We've learned that life is too short to let your dream pass you by - that you have to go out there and grab it while you can! For many years, Shel dreamed of owning this building and running a gift shop here. Much like her grandparents did before her. It was a goal we hoped to one day achieve. And now we have!
Getting here has been full of challenges and obstacles, but also excitement and adventures. This journey has given us a new perspective on what we are capable of when we put ourselves out there, work hard, and never give up. We've learned what makes us tick, and what gives us satisfaction and joy as we work to achieve our dream.
We also have a new perspective on family and friends, and the community around us. We've never taken these things for granted, but now we see even more of the love and friendship people have been surrounding us with. We are grateful for all the support and encouragement we've received.
Life is all about perspective. And we're certainly enjoying this new view!
